Enter your cat’s age.
How the conversion works
A widely used rule of thumb counts the first year of a cat’s life as about 15 human years, the second year as about 9 more (so 24 at age two), and every year after that as roughly 4. It is an approximation: breed, genetics, indoor or outdoor lifestyle and health all change how a cat ages.
Cat life stages
- Kitten (up to 6 months): rapid growth, vaccinations, socialization.
- Junior (6 months to 2 years): high energy, transition to adult food around 12 months.
- Prime (3 to 6 years): peak adult years, focus on weight and dental health.
- Mature (7 to 10 years): more frequent vet checks recommended.
- Senior (11+ years): screen for kidney, thyroid and joint issues. See our senior cat care guide and best senior cat food.
